DC Jack burnt motherboard

by Steve Smith

Hello, the DC jack on my laptop burnt the copper sleeve on my motherboard and can't make a connection. I read the repair and had a few questions.

#1. What type of wire do you use to make the bridge?

#2. Where on the motherboard can I solder that wire?

I appreciate your help.
Thanks!

This wire should be not too thin but not too thick to bend it and route it between soldering points. Sometimes I use a wire that comes with PC speakers or so-called magnet wire. A USB wire is also good if it is thick enough.

Right now, I can’t advise you on where to solder because I need to know the laptop model.
Usually, it is a DJ Jack's central pin and a copper pad nearby.

If you need a DC jack you can buy them here.
