SONY VAIO LAPTOP START ISSUES (VPCEH11FX)

The laptop will not start up on a regular basis (with AC or battery alone). In order to get the laptop to power up it requires the AC plug (at the computer) to be inserted and removed numerous times or even by changing the polarity of the AC adaptor at the wall outlet.

Hello,

does it show that it is charging the battery. When you manage to start it unplug the power adapter. Does it still work from the battery.

Also you can try using another power adapter if you can get one i.e. borrow.

When it does not power on unplug the power adapter, take out the battery, press and hold power button for a few moments. After that put it all together and try powering it on.

Pressing the power button causes the Orange (HD) light and the Green (battery) light to momentarily illuminate. Releasing the power button they go out. Just now, in this case, when I unplugged the power adapter (from the computer) the computer powered on all by itself. Now the Orange light (HD), and the Green light (power) are illuminated. The battery light is not illuminated. The battery shows fully charged on the menu. I’m thinking I have a bad capacitor that is not holding a charge to allow the power button to function.

Thanks for your help...
