DJI Osmo Mobile. This Gimbal Is Not For You

LET ME TELL YOU A VERY IMPORTANT THING. IF YOU HAVE AN ANDROID PHONE PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY DJI PRODUCTS. IT WILL NOT WORK. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT THEY SAY TO YOU. ANDROID PHONES WILL NEVER BE FULLY SUPPORTED BY DJI. SAVE YOUR MONEY, TIME AND HEALTH.

Now, this is what happened with my DJI Osmo Mobile. I bought it three years ago. On the first try, it did not keep the horizon level straight. I contacted customer support and they told me that my phone ZTE Nubia is not supported and will be supported in the nearest future. I thought it would start working properly in a few months or so.

After a few months, I got a new cell phone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note. I tried this phone also with my Osmo Mobile. The same thing exactly happened. I know the phone figures out the horizon level correctly as I have checked with a level app and it works flawlessly. It’s just the gimbal does not receive the data to keep the horizon straight.

After a few months, I figured out that DJI restricts access to the gimbal so other gimbal control software can’t be used. I can’t just connect to the gimbal using BlueTooth. The Osmo Mobile gimbal refuses to make a connection.

I have checked their website and at the bottom of the Osmo Mobile product page, there is a list printed in small letters that this gimbal will work on the iPhone.

There is also a list of supported Android phones. That list is wrong.

There is a new list made not by DJI. Android phones are listed there and functions that will work using Android phones are marked.

According to that list, almost all Android phones will fail to track function with Osmo Mobile.
On many Android phones, the Time Lapse function will not work.
Almost all non-Samsung Android phones are not supported at all; those phones most likely will never be supported.

Let me ask DJI why this list is not on the DJI product website. Why third-party websites and consumers must figure out what works and what does not, but the manufacturer can’t just make this function list.

Now three years have passed. When I contact customer support, they tell me the product is out of warranty and I need to pay for the repair. Why I have been told to wait till my phone will be supported. Why is there is no phone list on the DJI product page? So, it is a gimbal fault after all or what? This is just an unending excuse flow by DJI.
When I contact them again, they do not know what it’s all about; I even need to remember what cell phones I have. I just told them about my mobile models a day ago and today they do not remember that. It is just unbelievable.

I got tired of all this nonsense so wrote this review. Hopefully, it will help unfortunate people who have Android phones.

I find this company’s dishonest behavior concerning. This behavior is a breach of consumer’s law and the company trading should be suspended.
